A few tips on uploading your layout complied by Deb Mullins.
PHOTOGRAPHING YOUR LAYOUT
-
You need daylight because you don't want to use your flash. A flash will create a big old white spot reflection on your photo. Near a window or outside (in shade, not sun) works well. Put your layout as FLAT as possible on the ground. A big sheet of white paper, or white cloth works a treat underneath your layout because it reflects MORE light, which is what we want.
-
If you are using a point and shoot, select the portrait setting. If using a DSLR, use P or even dare I say it AV and set your aperture low ....low aperture = more light = no need for flash. Am I repeating myself????
-
Stand OVER your layout, zoom in but not too much. Sometimes too much zoom causes distortion on the edges if using point and shoots. Zoom right in if using a digi SLR. Try to fill your frame with your layout. Take a few shots.
-
Upload your shots to your computer. You should have fairly well exposed photos if you followed my ramblings above
-
Edit your photo. Use your crop tool in photo editing to crop right down the edge of your layout. SAVE your file. If it is a little crooked, fix that up too with a straightening too. I also suggest increasing your CONTRAST, maybe increasing your SATURATION slightly, so your photo looks brighter and clearer to view. There are lots of editing options in Picasa, and it is very user friendly. Experiment with all the tools to see what they can do.
You can download PICASA for free to edit your photos. It is a great little program.
-
Now one of the most crucial points....RESIZING your photo. You need to reduce the size of your photo so that it is LESS THAN 100KB. I have included a link showing you how to RESIZE YOUR PHOTOS USING PICASA. You need to click on the 'export' button on the bottom of the screen. It will ask you where you want to save your file, and it will automatically create a file in 'My Pictures' and name it what you type in.
I used the slider and set it at 480 and chose 'normal' image quality. This has created a file that is 85KB, so it is under the 100KB allowed and will upload.

Now you are ready to log onto Scrapz.Biz and upload your images.
Make sure you select the correct gallery when uploading, because you cannot change it once it is done.
However, don't panic if it ends up in a wrong gallery, as we can fix it up for you.
All your uploaded items automatically get loaded into your own personal gallery, which you can view on your profile page.
