Hi, and welcome to my very first tutorial
Have you noticed that there seems to be a little bit of chevron creeping in to so many of the new ranges being released lately? There's something about this simple pattern that makes me happy and I thought it would be fun to create a little chevron of my own to share with you today
Here's the page I have created and I will be showing you how to make the chevron strip using the new Amy Tangerine collection form American Crafts.

I originally started creating a larger chevron pattern across the page, but had a bit of an accident with my sewing machine that resulted in having to start over  and so I salvaged what I could to make another page and decided on the chevron strip going down the page instead...with no machine stitching ;)
Ok let's get started....
Begin by cutting out a 5cm wide strip from your main paper to form the base of the chevron feature.

the next step is to decide how wide you want the pattern to be - I decided to use the co-ordinating strip on the back of the paper as my guide

this strip is roughly 13mm wide and I worked out that if I cut it into 5cm parts I would get 6 strips (thats 3 chevron stripes) from each 12x12" width. Try not to get put off by doing a little measuring at this stage because it will really make your assembly go a lot smoother if things are even ;)
One of the easiest ways to create the pattern is to simply overlap two strips at a 90 degree angle and snip them down the middle giving you a perfectly mitred edge.

Once you have cut all the pieces, begin attaching them to the base base strip from the bottom up - I decided that I wanted some of the original paper to show through and used a left over strip of paper cut to the same width as a guide when spacing out the strips.

continue building up your pattern until you reach the top - it should look something like this

for a bit of variation you could also fill in the gaps with another pattern or expand the chevron across your page using the same technique.
trim off the excess and ink or sand the edges (I also added a bit of hand stitching at this stage) then back the strip with chipboard/cardstock before re-assembling it back into position on the page.

work out where you will place your photo and cut out a slightly smaller piece from the page so that you can use some of the pattern on the back of the paper then add this piece to the page along with your photo and arrange a cluster of stickers and embellishments along the bottom edge of the photo.

I backed some of the stickers with chipboard to create a bit of depth and created a few more clusters before applying the alpha and word stickers to finish off the page.
